Nanga Parbat (the Naked Mountain) gloats a long history of unsuccessful climbing endeavors and catastrophes; thus it came to be known as the killer mountain. It rises tall at 8,126 meters over sea level out of the Himalayas in Diamer Locale of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Historical accounts suggest that mount Nanga Parbat popped up as a result of collision between the Indian and the Eurasian tectonic plates. Nanga Parbat has three gigantic faces: The Rakhiot Face, The Diamer Face, and The Rupal face. Like mount K2, Nanga Parbat is an extreme challenge for the world’s ingenious mountain climbers.
