Chilas is a city, and divisional capital of Diamer Locale found in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, on the Indus Waterway. It is a portion of the Silk Road associated with the Karakoram Highway and N-90 National Interstate, which link it to Islamabad and Peshawar within the southwest, through Hazara and Malakand Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Within the north, Chilas is associated with the Chinese cities of Tashkurgan and Kashgar in Xinjiang, through Gilgit, Aliabad, Sust, and the Khunjerab Pass.
The climate of Chilas is hot and dry in the summer and dry and cold in the winter. It can be reached by the Karakoram highway and also through the Kaghan Valley and the Babusar Pass. The beautiful Fairy Meadows National Park and Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest peak in the world, are also located in Chilas.
